We prepared a lot of activities like a Rainbow Day in the spring when we 'd all use rainbow t-shirts and have a little pride party after school with treats and music. Among the first things we wished to do this term was Ally Week. I learned that federal law states that if a public school enables any noncurricular clubs like Table-Top Video gaming Club or Fellowship of Christian Athletes, then it can't state no when trainees wish to begin other noncurricular clubs like a GSA. The school also can't act like it's permitting a GSA and after that simply de-gay everything about our club including the name.

And, it was a big relief when the school informed us that we might do all of the things we 'd hoped for, consisting of hosting Ally Week and Rainbow Day.

Ally Week begins today. All we desire is to make South Garland High School a safer school, not just for LGBT students but for everyone.
